Tips for Visiting San Marcos
Eat local when you are in town! Enjoy Mediterranean food at Nostimo Café, or Italian Garden for the best margarita pizza in Central Texas.

Tips for Parents & Family Members
As your student transitions to and through college, ask them about their own expectations of college. Their needs might change while in college, and expectations might change as well. Finding a balance between your expectations and their expectations can help ease conflict or emotions on both sides. Open up a dialogue to best hear and support your student.

Noah is a graduate from Texas Tech University, and a proud husband and father of two. He believes that students are only as successful as their tools and support systems, and is eager to help parents and families equip their students for success with our university. Noah enjoys disc golf, cooking, spending time with friends and family (including his dog Ruby), and is a big fan of both hockey and football.

Tips for Visiting San Marcos
San Marcos has a lot to offer! Make sure to check out the glass-bottom boat tours of Spring Lake offered at the Meadows Center. Check out the square downtown to grab a bite to eat with friends or family with a nice view of our beautiful courthouse; there is no shortage of great local restaurants. Walk around campus and down to the square, you’ll be sure to find something of interest.

Tips for Parents & Family Members
Make sure to familiarize yourself with the on-campus resources available to your student. You may be surprised at just how much the university has to offer outside of the classroom, ranging from counseling and Career Services all the way to the Attorney for Students. The more you know about these resources, the greater direction you can provide your student to ensure their success at Texas State. Also, try to encourage your students to fully immerse themselves in the college experience and engage in campus related activities.
